The international conference in Vilnius

On February 28, 2013 in Vilnius will take place the international conference "10 years of experience and new goals of container train" Viking ", during which the topical issues of perspective development of cargo traffic will be discussed. The main objective of the conference - the possibilities of development of the train by increasing cargo traffic between the Baltic and Black Seas.

The project "Viking" carries cargo traffic between the Republic of Belarus, Ukraine and Lithuania since 2003. Currently transported volumes has been increased by 4 times. In ten years the project has become successful and widely recognized. In 2009, the Association of European Intermodal Cargo Traffic appreciated container train "Viking" as the best European project in cargo traffic. The exclusivity of the project is that it not only realizes transport functions, but also improves transport and logistics systems in Belarus, Lithuania and Ukraine. For today, the project unites railways of four countries. In order to further development and increase of cargo traffic in December 2012 Bulgaria has joined the project. Railway administrations of countries such as Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Sweden and Finland also expressed an interest in cooperation.

The representatives of the ministries and state institutions of Lithuania, representatives of railways of Belarus, Ukraine, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Sweden and Finland were invited to take part in the conference. Also were invited freight forwarding, transport-logistic and stevedoring companies.

A further geographical expansion of train plying in the direction of the Black Sea - Baltic Sea and back is considering.
