The volume of freight traffic on Belarusian Railways increased in January-October to 8.9%.

125.3 million tons were transported by the Belarusian Railways in January-October 2011, or 108.9% over the same period in 2010. In particular, the transit of goods by the Belarusian Railways totaled 41.9 million tons, up to 11.3% more than in January-October 2010.

 The development of trade between Belarus and foreign countries allowed to increase export and import of cargo. The Volume of export of goods by rail in January-October this year was more than 2 times higher than the import volume. Export of goods on the Belarusian Railway has reached 32.7 million tons, 34.2% more than in January-October 2010. In particular, the export of chemicals was 4 times higher than in the same period last year, oil - by 51%, construction materials - by 54.2%, timber - by 24.4%, chemical and mineral fertilizers - by 13.6%.

 Since the beginning of this year there is a steady growth in freight traffic by the Belarusian Railways in the Customs Union of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan. 4.4 million tons of cargos were exported in January-October by the railway to Russia and Kazakhstan, surpassing the same period of 2010 to 23.2%.
