Latvian ports increased the turnover by 12% for 10 months, to 56.96 million tons

Ports of Latvia in January-October 2011 increased cargo turnover by 12.3% over the same period of 2010 - to 56.96 million tons, according to the materials of the Ministry of communications of the Republic.

During the period bulk cargoes were handled most of all - 22.37 million tons (+14.7% compared to January-October 2010). Including coal - 16.4 million tons (29.4%), chemical cargo - 3.63 million tons (14.5%), wood chips - 1.28 million tons (-14.1%).

During the 10 months of 2011 19.4 million tons (12.2%) of liquid cargo were processed, including petroleum products - 18.777 million tons (13.9%), crude oil - 87.5 thousand tons (2.2 times less). Was handled 10.185 million tons (+6.9%) of general cargo, among them wood - 4.142 million tons (10%), container cargo - 2.633 million tons (19.5%), Ro-Ro cargo 2.37 million tons (+29%).

Freight turnover of the port of Riga in January-October 2011 totaled 28.127 million tons (12.3%), Ventspils - 23.566 million tons (12.8%), Liepaja - 3.943 million tons (+10.5%).

In 2010, Latvia's ports have served 61.16 million tons (-1.3% to a level of 2009).
